Yes, I finally found the time to actually blog. It feels weird. It’s been what? 10 days? I wonder who sincerely missed me. Anyway, time for the real post…
He walks in, and the look on his face when he sees me is priceless. I sit there in my ivory dress, pulling off the Greek goddess look I had in mind. Watching him look at me and feeling the warmth in his eyes spread through my body. I smile at him. We head out together. The butterflies flutter around in my stomach as the nervousness builds up. All eyes will be on me. I don’t especially like this kind of attention. He holds onto my hand, stroking it, and I’m comforted.
I let go of his hand, smiling at him and tearing up all at once. It all feels so surreal. I keep reminding myself that I’m married to him, that although I’m letting go of his hand, he’s mine. I walk in. My mom is crying at the door. The ululations filling my ears. My vision is blurred. I’m crying. I try to stop, but I can’t. My cousins are standing in a line to the right of my red velvet throne. It takes me a long while to get to it, even though the distance seemed short at first. I blink back my tears, trying not to mess up my minimal make up. That doesn’t work. Everywhere I look there are people crying. I can’t not cry with them. My tears are of joy and ultimate satisfaction. I am content. I sit, and I am content with everything.
I get restless as I wait to be with him again. I smile for the cameras, make small talk with friends and strangers, and try to store the images before me in my head. I’m with him again, and I’m with him always. It’s been a little over two weeks, and nothing matters more than his happiness. Nothing.
