ღOur Library
Someone suggested that I post my library and allow people to discuss choice of books, make suggestions as to what to read, etc. So, this post is open to comments whenever. The list of books will be updated regulary.
“People say life is the thing, but I prefer reading.”
Logan Pearsall Smith
nabokov….
isnt he the author of lolita? i cant see the title clearly but where did you get lolita? i couldnt find it
i
Yeah, he is. I got it from Lebanon. I couldn’t find it here either:)
It’s a good book. Order it if you have to. And then read The End of Alice. Twisted books stretch your mind further. They bring back the realiztion that there are so many possibilities.
i just bought 1984 but i havent read it yet… unfortunately i read bad reviews about it but way after i bought it i like twisted books 😉 im going to order lots of banned books i hope no one will check on my shipping ;p
shipment*
i
Hehe, no one will. Censorship is funny here.
I love 1984. I’m assuming you’ll like The Giver.
Wow, thats a long list you got there!
Both Khaled Hosseini books are good, although I liked ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ better.
Eleven Minutes sucks, I mean, its very bad, I didnt like it. Its about the life of the prostitute, sounds intresting but its really not. Have you read ‘The Alchemist’? Its his best I think. I’ve read ‘Brida’ and ‘Eleven Minutes’, they are not as good as ‘The Alchemist’!
Dan Brown has amazing plots and information in his books, but I dont think much of his writting style. ‘Angels and demons’ is amazing though! I think its even better than ‘The Da Vinci Code’.
Edgar Allan Poe is just AMAZINNNG!!!
‘The Time Travelers Wife’ is a good one too!
Hey, Have you read ‘The Book Thief’ yet? I keep seeing it but I never actually got it. Tell me, is it good?
‘The Shadow of the Wind’ is a beautifully written book! I just loved it…
Ok, im gonna stop now. Thats enough 😛
I got a bit over excited lol!
Couldnt resist-
‘The Good Earth’, how was that? Good read?
I actually enjoyed The Kite Runner more. It made me laugh, cry, etc. more.
My favorite Paulo Coelho is The Devil and Miss Prym. I liked Eleven Minutes. It’s different.
I like both Dan Browns 🙂
The Book Theif is good. I still haven’t read The Time Traveler’s Wife or The Shadow of the Wind. I got those on the trip.
Hehe, no problem. And The Good Earth was a little bit boring for me. When I first finished it, I though it was really good, but now, not so much. It might leave you angry though. That would make it good.
so what are ur top ten books :P?
kryptonite
I have no idea 😛
i agree with kryptonite.. give us a list of your tops ones 🙂
plus.. the shadow of the wind is a MUST READ.. seriously… i couldn’t put it down.. sadly enough i couldn’t say the same about Veronika decides to die.. probably a mistake for it to be the first paulo coehlo book i read..
Frogman
I don’t have a list of top books. I judge books my how much they impact me. That is relative. It depends on who is reading them. What I’m going through during the time that I read a book is a big factor.
I will read that one soon. Try reading Coelho’s The Alchemist or The Devil and Miss Prym. 🙂
very impressive library.
Most of the books are either ones I love or ones I wanted to read for a log time 🙂
I don’t like Coelho though…
and never knew white oleander was a novel, I love the film nevertheless.
silent observer
Thanks 🙂
Coelho’s are a fairy tale for adults.
White Oleander is better as a book. Trust me 😉
btw im reading “the power of now” by eckhart tolle.. i didnt check to see if it was on ur list, but if it isnt then plz go out and GET IT. its so inspiring! and every single paragraph im going “MINJID!” out loud like an idiot 😛 i really think u should read it 🙂 it will change the way u think..
beejay
Hopefully, will do 🙂
Ooh Amethyst the bookworm 😉
“The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown”.. do you recommend it? It’s in my shopping list but somehow I feel like the author will go on and on with the explanation too much and blah blah.. if you know what I mean.
I’m gonna buy To Kill a Mocking Bird, Harper Lee, because I wanna know why it’s on the list of the most controversial books ever!
Neno Halo
Of course 😉
Dan Brown’s: It’s good. I read it in one day with bathroom and prayer breaks only. It’s gripping. You might think it’s overrated once you’re done with it though.
Harper Lee’s: It’s one of the first books to address racism in a very different way. It’s great.
I’m extremely flattered to see ‘Zoia’s Gold’ on such a distinguished list. I hope you enjoyed it.
Best wishes,
