She falls out of bed. She doesn’t wince in pain. She doesn’t cry out. She doesn’t even blink. She sits up and draws her knees up to her deadpan expression. Physical pain is nothing compared to the emotions that twist at her heart when she recalls everything. She gets goosebumps – not the nice fuzzy kind. She shivers at the thoughts that now take over her mind. She trembles under the load of tragedy. She buries her still deadpan expression into her knees and cries.
Hours pass.. She heaves herself up off the floor and walks towards her bathroom. She avoids the mirror and splashes her face with as much water as possible. She then cleans her face with a cotton ball and some sort of liquid that will remove all the black stains that run down to her chin. She brushes her teeth and brushes her hair with her hands. She looks in the mirror. She shrugs and walks away from it. She pulls on a pair of shorts and a sweater and sits on her bed.
There’s music playing in her head, one screwed up lullaby after the other. She listens to them and tugs at her hair. Songs that used to comfort her greatly simply frustrate her now. A significant song comes on in her mind’s playlist. She shakes her head and blocks her ears. What is she doing? Is she blocking the music so that it stays in? Has she forgotten that it’s in her head? She breaks down under the weight of the song. What a pity..
The song plays again and again, blocking out everything else. She screams, trying to overcome the song in her head.
Louder and LOuder and LOUder and LOUDer and LOUDEr and LOUDER.
No one can hear her. After all, she’s screaming in her head as well..
