She woke up. The sun hasn’t come up yet. She must have dosed off. Strands of her messy hair are matted to her wet face. She didn’t sleep for long. Twenty minutes? Maybe. She hauls herself over the side of her bed and walks towards her bathroom. With as little noise as possible, she opens her bathroom door then closes it behind her.
She stares at herself in the mirror. Red swollen eyes. Stained mascara. Helpless expression. Tangled hair. She brushes everything out of her face. That’s not her in the mirror, she thinks. Not really. She sighs and washes her face with cold water. She dries it with a towel. Deep breath. Not a sigh. Just a long deep breath.
She looks at herself in the mirror again. That won’t do. She sinks down to the cold floor and cries. Waiting to know what to do.. And she can’t remember what happened next.
